                       Centenary of the Unknown Soldier
                              November 4, 2021

This year marks the centenary of the Unknown Soldier and on 4 November 2021, on the occasion of the Day of National Unity and the Armed Forces, it will be remembered with a solemn ceremony to be held in Rome, at the Altare della Patria.
More than a hundred years have passed since the First World War and the stories that our ancestors made have been lost in time. The historical memory of that period in our nation is not fully present today. In recent years, recourse has been made to the centenary to transmit to civil society, especially the younger generations, what happened during the immense tragedy of the Great War.

The Military History Museum Library wants to commemorate this Centenary with a schematic exhibition, in which two significant aspects of that particular historical event are highlighted; how The Idea of the Unknown Soldier and his Journey from Aquileia to Rome was born; using excerpts from texts and photos from a period magazine.
