The Military Historical Museum Library has been active since 2017, the year of inauguration of the headquarters located in the monumental complex of S. Anna, a convent of the Cistercians dating back to the 13th century, today a multifunctional center of the Municipality of Ortona.
The Library was originally born at the registered office of the ANMI Group in Ortona with a naval historical address. Today it holds about 3,000 volumes, a collection that comes mainly from donations from the Historical Office of the Navy, from members and from private citizens. With the assignment by the Municipal Administration of the premises in the S. Anna Complex, the library has been enriched with publications from the Defense Staff and the Historical Offices of the Army, Air Force, Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza, variegating the bookseller heritage and giving it a precise military historical connotation.
