Privacy Policy for EU Residents

 

WHAT IS THE GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)

It is the European Regulation n. 2016/679 on the protection and security of personal data which introduces new rules on privacy.
The Regulation is directly applicable in all 28 Member States of the European Union.
Any treatment, from collection to processing, from storage to destruction of a data, regardless of the way it is carried out, will be subject to the GDPR.

 

The following additional information concerns residents of the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEE) whose personal data we must collect for the purpose of consulting volumes.

 

1.  In the case of residents in the EU or EEA of which the Library must collect, with certainty, data ("personal data") this takes place in compliance with all current regulations governing the protection of data and privacy. This includes, but is not limited to, the General Regulation for the protection of personal data of the EU (2016/679) ('GDPR') and the national laws of the EU member states that process or regulate the collection, processing and privacy of personal data. (collectively "EU data protection rules").

2. The Library will not transmit any direct marketing communications.

3.  Foundation of lawfulness for data collection and processing

3.1. Personal data is processed by us for the purposes set out above, in accordance with one or more of the following legal grounds recognized by the EU data protection regulations:

a) the data have been provided to us by giving us explicit consent to their use
(b) there is a legal obligation for us to process such data in accordance with the EU Data Protection Regulations
(c) it is necessary to protect the vital interests of the data subject himself (or of others), such as in emergencies of a medical nature; 
(d) the data subject has clearly chosen to make this information public; or
(e) when it is necessary in connection with legal actions to which we are or may be subject.

4. No disclosure of personal data to third parties

5. Duration of storage of personal data

5.1.  the library  retains personal data for the time necessary in the specific circumstances; for instance"

  • As long as the person is  in relation to our network;

  • For a reasonable period for sending volumes there are regular contacts with the interested party or

  • For the time necessary for the exercise of or legal defense against contractual claims or as dictated by current laws.
